Eddie Higgins

I played with Eddie Higgins on the SS Norway floating jazz festival. He led the rhythm section for the 'saxophone spactacular' which featured all the saxophone players who were working on the ship that week. Illinois Jacquet, Lou Donaldson, Flip Phillips, Phil Woods and Stanley Turrentine were on that cruise and were among the players that day. He was a good clean player, had a nice economic sense of swing. I think the rest of the rhythm section was Keter Betts on bass, and Jackie Williams on drums. If you didn't sound good with those cats, you were in trouble!
