http://www.scribd.com has a lot of kewl stuff. They describe their website as, "The World’s Largest Online Library." I think that might actually be correct, unless Google Books has a few more.
 
Reed uppermost...

I can't abide the upward reed, myself. But, I'm too old and set in my ways. Besides, my upper lip gets enough of a workout playing the bassoon once or twice a year, much less clarinet on an ongoing basis.

I've got the book, and it's a fairly comprehensive (if somewhat dry) coverage of the topic. It should be in the library of anyone interested in the history and development of the clarinet.
