Interesting gig last evening

I played a gig last evening that was quite different for me.
It was a "Lessons in Carols" at a church; 1.2 hr. brass quintet prelude, service: scripture, song, scripture, song, etc.
My music: Brass quintet French Horn parts (which I played on Also Sax) 10 traditional songs, Baritone sax on two songs: New Orleans style jazz brass band style [got to improvise on changes on one of them]), and Flute on the vocal tunes (soprano/tenor soloist).
It was an interesting gig.....'went well.

Merry Xmas !!!

Sounds like you had fun. IMO, saxes blend very well with brass instruments. We just returned from Christmas with our grandchildren in Kansas City, attended the Salvation Army Northland Corps near Gladstone past Sunday before Christmas. They have a brass band made up of retired Corps officers and a few others.

If we were going to stay longer, I probably could have asked to join them and fill in on missing instrumentation on one of my saxes, fun stuff.
