Interesting, was almost thinking the pic line was unnecessary, but it came in late in the piece.

Yes. I was pleasantly surprised by its contribution to the latter stages - the piccolo responses to the previously stated theme seemed to give added impact as the piece reached its climax. It's changed my way of thinking about the piccolo. You begin to realise one of the smallest instruments is one of the most crucial.

BTW someone on another forum reminded me it's in the wrong stave position. You were perhaps too polite to mention it.
