Pearled Plateau metal clarinet

So I just sold this interesting metal clarinet that had Plateau keys which on it's own is very special but what was most interesting was the fact that it had pearls on those keys. The person who bought it plays mostly lower clarinets like contra or bass and is used to the covered keys. He intended to use it as his main Bb soprano due to how it'll be much easier to play than a regular Bb sop for him. I thought about keeping it but sold it instead. Just thought this might be interesting for some of the doublers in this forum. Here are some photos of the horn

It wasn't actually in a playing condition but didn't look like it needed a lot of work. Lot's of evidence on the horn that it was a pro horn and not some student crap. I'll let you guys know once the horn is in playing condition with its new owner

Hello danthecontraman, do you have any updates on this? I am looking looking for a metal plateau clarinet myself. Fingers getting old and hurty
Best, Reed

Hi
I have a plateau key metal clarinet that I have been trying to find more information on. It has an engraved bell with the name Henry Gunckel and serial no PC51. It is also stamped PAT.1.705634 which seems to be a Bettoney patent. I haven’t been able to find another one on the internet and wondered if someone on this forum would know any more.

"Henri Gunckel, Paris" was a trade name used by a US importer in the late 1800's-early 2000's. The instruments were sourced from various makers.

Is there any way to tell which model of bettoney it is based on? I think they all seem to have the same Patent number.

It's probably -- and I'm just guessing, here -- based on a clarinet.

I'm here all week, folks. Tip your server. Try the prime rib.

I did a very little Googling and realized that there are so many horns with "Bettony" stamped on them, I'd have to spend a few hours coming up with what H. Bettoney has to do with Cundy-Bettoney and/or Guy Humphrey and/or Henry Gunckel. There's a ton written about all these.

Anyhow, read this first. Then you might want to take a look at this.

If you have the original mouthpiece, I do see some posts saying it may be worth in the $100+ range. Once we get some better pics, the better we can help.
