Doing that thang we do do, this time with my wife and me on saxes with the Seattle Solid GOLD Big Band. Love the summer venue at the Ballard Locks in Seattle this weekend. Pro tip, if you want to love the music you play, start your own band. We are at year 16. Good times!

My brother (trumpeter) & I fronted a big band from 1979 through 1990.
It was a ton of fun....we still have the books, stands, stand lights, etc.
We played clubs once a month (Tuesday or Wednesday nights) for $25pp & free drafts and gigged concerts & other gigs for real money.
The band was an off-shoot of the college jazz band most of us were in. On the mid week gigs we'd use a guitarist instead of KBD as we played more jazz rock (Maynard Ferguson, etc.) & some Toshiko tunes to keep the bar folk happy with plenty of soloing to keep the guys (musos) interested.
The outdoor concerts stuff was usually Pearls, In the M..., etc.

I miss those days....
