I've done exactly 0 research on these or the Seles Axos models. However, it sounds like the 40 is like the early 1980s Selmer USA Omega: not exactly like the top end S80, but you might like it more than an S80, especially for the cash.

Super 80 Serie III Jubilee Lacquer Tenor: $7.6K
Axos: $3.6K
40 Series: $3K

And they are made where? I tried to see this printed somewhere on the product info sheets, but I couldn't see it anywhere... Might be because the print was too small, or it didn't say... Anyone see it? Anyone know?

The neck and mouthpiece are from Selmer Paris. The body is, "... Made in Taiwan, but modeled on the Selmer [Super 80] Series [sic] II saxophone." Considering that's from the Category Manager for Woodwinds at Conn-Selmer, I'd call it authoritative.

Just as a quick opinion, I thought the 40 Series looked an awful lot like a P. Mauriat. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I haven't exactly done a point-by-point comparison, tho. I'd also like to see how it compares to the Conn-Selmer LaVoix/LaVie, which are also made in Taiwan.
