Tchaikovsky played by 14 saxophones

Yeah, they shoulda left in the applause and the bow. They deserved it! They got my blood to pumping.

The technical ability of the players in that performance of Tchaikovsky is certainly beyond reproach. However for my taste, the overall sound of the ensemble is far too "in your face" and strident.

A few examples of another very fine ensemble that much more closely matches my concept of the timbre and quality of a saxophone choir are these:
