The seller says it's an "A. Malueu." Considering the high serial number, it's probably a stencil, but it's not of the only XX-rated Hawkes and Sons horns.

I am curious about the bottom key guard. I had read only Conn used the "Mercedes" symbol shaped key guard there. I guess this is incorrect?

I think it's right for US made saxes, but certainly not for European ones.

I know saw my fair share of XXX rated saxes while growing up in Germany. Or was it in the red light district of town an spelled with an "e" instead of an "a"? I can't remember now. It was Berlin after all...

Several European makes and at least two US makes (Conn and some Couturier).
