Yesterday I published a lengthy article on the counterfeit and knockoff Keilwerth saxophones that are not only available online, but have found their way into the occasional brick and mortar stores as well.
These horns all appear to come from China, and yes, they are--for the most part anyway--illegal. These are counterfeits.
The article looks at the differences between counterfeits and knockoffs, and features loads of photos of both real and fake Keilwerths to help buyers spot fakes BEFORE they buy one.
It really is the Wild West when it comes to buying a used saxophone, or even a new one from anything other than an Authorized Dealer. My article is intended to level the playing field just a bit.
Good luck buyers. Do your homework BEFORE you buy.
