Unusual Tenor Saxophone

A customer brought this in last week and I have never seen one like it. All I know at this point is that it is a "Martelle", it is made in Germany, and it is the best saxophone in the world. (It says so right on the instrument) It also has a plastic wraparound keyguard reminiscent of a vintage Conn---I forget the model.

Looks like a New King from Keilwerth. According to the serial number it's from about 1957.

+1 on an Ed sighting! That's that crazy plastic key guard that breaks and people are always looking for a replacement.

There are a few places that sell the keyguard. It's probably possible to use a 3D printer to make one. There are metal replacements, too.
